This coming Sunday, the residents of Dharamsala can look forward to an eventful run up to the Tibetan New Year. The Rock Street Journal (One of the India s most widely read newsmagazine on rock music) in association with Delhi based Tibet-India Coordination office and Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Center (TPPRC) are bringing some of the most well known names in the Indian Rock world to this hilly town.

Concert for Tibet- Give peace a Chance will kick-off at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) at 4 PM on the 2nd of March. The Bands listed to hold the Stage and electrify the evening air are Delhi based Parikrama, Envison and Mrigya. It also features Tibetan music bands like JJI and AKAMA. Jonas Hellborg Band will also make an appearance.

Unlike in the North East India, the rock music culture has never really taken a deep root in Dharamsala , the political capital of exiled Tibetans. However, since last year, a number of rock concerts were organized here for the first time. A band from Darjeeling was first to make such an appearance followed by another band from Chennai with a Tibetan in the lead. The rave over their live wire performances still continues to this day.

Dharamsala residents are no strangers to musical concerts per se. If we look down the memory lane, lots of notable singers and maestros have graced the stages here with their awesome performances. In addition to the regular shows and concerts done by our local artists and wannabe singers. The rock concerts on the other hand is only now becoming a regular feature in the local calendar.

The show is organized to highlight the plight of the Tibetans and create awareness about the Tibetan issue.
