Don Pham is living his dream half a world away.

Once his name was Donald Pham, and he was the shy son of a Laguna Niguel dentist. Now his name is Konchog “Kusho” Osel, and he’s the youngest monk studying Buddhist philosophy in Dharamsala, India, seat of the Tibetan Government in Exile and home of the Dalai Lama. At 12, he vowed to relieve the suffering of others. To tame all passions.

To rigorously discipline body, speech and mind. Now 16, his goal is nothing short of enlightenment. For the next four days, follow the struggles and triumphs of “The Boy Monk” as he strives to become the first Vietnamese- American geshe, the most learned of all Tibetan Buddhist monks.
